Interventional Specialist Dr. Eric Alcaraz completed his medical degree at Des Moines University. Prior to completing residency, he served as a Flight Surgeon in the US Air Force, where he spent time deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. It is during this time that he tended to patients sustaining traumatic brain injury, amputation, and post-traumatic pain. In addition, his time as a Flight Surgeon, taking care of pilots experiencing occupation related neck and back pain, subsequently influenced his decision to pursue residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Alcaraz completed his PM&R residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas in 2012. Following this, he went on to pursue a fellowship in Interventional Spine/Pain at the Joint and Pain Centers in California. Dr. Alcaraz takes a holistic approach to pain management, treating the whole person, in addressing issues. He specializes in interventional procedures, as well as medical management of pain.
